In 2017, an aggressive need for post-college independence and adventure drove me to take a job in Moab, Utah, fleeing my home state of Pennsylvania (go birds!). I packed up my camping gear and work pants and spent a year cutting down tamarisk and learning how to cook over a two-burner Coleman stove.

In the decade since, I’ve traveled the country for work and play. I found a home with the Department of Interior, first with the national parks and then with the Bureau of Land Management. I’ve been fortunate enough to work where most people vacation, and vacation where most people don’t go. And in 2024, the Murray Family (Inc.) was formally established when I was rescued by a spicy lab-collie toddler named Sunny.

Sunny, adventure dog and first mate extraordinaire

During the week, I work in recreation planning with a side of cartography. When Friday rolls around, I’m off to hit the trails, river, and cliffs. Explore my portfolio to see samples of my work, photography from travels, and musings from my field journals. I guess you could say my brain is solar powered, and it goes haywire at night.
